FAQs about Selcon™ Concentrate

Q: Should I refrigerate Selcon?

A: While it does not hurt,  it is not necessary and best stored in a cool place away from light.

Q: Can I put Selcon directly into the saltwater?

A: Yes definitely, it will have a direct benefit to all filter feeding invertebrates, however, fish benefit mostly by incorporating into their food mix.

Q: Can I use Selcon for freshwater fish?

A: Yes but take special care not to overfeed. Incorporate Selcon into the food mix. Freeze dried food works very well. Carnivorous freshwater species benefit greatly from Selcon.

Q: Why do my ORP/REDOX levels drop when I feed Selcon?

A: This is normal due to the exceptional antioxidants in Selcon. Normal ORP/REDOX will return in several hours.

Q: I have an old bottle of Selcon and I am not sure if it is good. How can I tell?

A: If you are not sure just send the bottle in to American Marine Inc., 54 Danbury Road, Suite 172, Ridgefield, CT 06877 USA, for a new replacement. It is satisfaction guaranteed.

Q: How long should I wait before feeding live brine shrimp treated with Selcon?

A: Wait at least an hour, up to 12 hours is OK. Be sure to aerate the brine shrimp.

Q: What is the most effective way to feed Selcon?

A: Try freeze dried brine shrimp or mysis shrimp. Let shrimp soak in Selcon 20-30 minutes and feed. Freeze dried shrimp are approximately 45 to 65% protein and hold 9 times their weight in Selcon. When the shrimp are released into the aquarium most if not all of the Selcon stays within the carapace of the freeze dried shrimp therefore giving the highest dose of Selcon. Freeze dried Selcon infused brine or mysis shrimp can be frozen to be used later.

Q: Does Selcon™ lose its potency when frozen?

A: No it does not. Selcon™ retains its potency when defrosted.
